“A watershed for liberty” – Harry Miller’s statement following High Court win

Nineteen Eighty-Four is not a Police Manual

“Mister Justice Knowles is very clear: We have never had a Gestapo or a Stasi in Great Britain, but the actions of Humberside Police came way too close.

“This is a watershed moment for liberty. The police were wrong to visit my workplace, wrong to check my thinking, wrong in their attempt force feed me the Stonewall – now the Labour Party – Trans rights pledge.

Humberside said they were following the Guidelines and The College of Police agreed. None of that matters. The College of Policing is a private company that issues Guidance with all the legal weight of a Delia Smith Cook Book or an Owen Jones rant. Miller versus Humberside serves as a rallying cry: Women, comedians, students… even you politicians. Rediscover what it’s like to think, then Go forth and tweet without fear.

But this judgment should have a chilling effect. On the police. If you act as Big Brother on behalf of rainbow warriors or grievance mobs, beware. Fair Cop is watching you. We stand here today between the twin dragons of liberty and law, and you stand behind a chocolate fire guard called The College of Policing Guidance. It will not shield you; you will get burned.

“Fair Cop’s advice to Chief Constables is this: Uphold the law. If you have to choose between the guidance and law. For the sake of liberty, choose law.”

Full judgment and Judge’s summary: Miller -v- College of Policing

The effect of the police turning up at [the Claimant’s] place of work because of his political opinions must not be underestimated. To do so would be to undervalue a cardinal democratic freedom. In this country we have never had a Cheka, a Gestapo or a Stasi. We have never lived in an Orwellian society.

  1. Well done. Can I now legitimately criticise the barbaric 7th century ideology called Islam without fear of an officer of the law feeling my collar?

  2. Fantastic outcome, Harry and WeAreFairCop. This sets a perfect precedent and will be oft-quoted. Thank you for putting yourself through this, and I for one am grateful that you had so much support (from there and here!). More strength to your [collective] elbow – I fear this is just the beginning.

  3. To all those who bewail police inaction over Muslim Grooming Gangs, it is society that let our Police get destroyed by political correctness, and it’s an ex-Police Officer who’s just taken the first major step in the fightback. God bless Harry Miller. He’s more than earnt a Knighthood. But the war is not over. The enemy will regroup. We need to scramble and get the Spitfires in the air to defend freedom, or it yet might fall.

  4. Brilliantly sound Harry Miller ! Makes me proud again.

Such a massive relief from screeching Anti English Gina Miller..born as Nadira Singh !

Also Bless a Real Judge ! Obviously not a member of the Wicked Common Purpose

    or Marxist Fabian Society,

Englands Civil Service Local Government & The dreadfully Pompous layabout 43 Useless FatCat Chief Constables who are not fit for purpose..

All need sacking & compelled to pay their inflated wages back…as They have all failed to protect the public, but have abandoned us All !

No huge pens for such cowardly treacherous conmen !

The 43 Limp Epic Flop Cheating chiefs are just blatant Subversives !

Endlessly Scheming and Hollowing Out Britain’s institutions from within..

  5. Congratulations. As a member of the LGBT “community”, I’m appalled at the tactics being employed by the ‘T’ section and am frankly fed up with the association. In my view, it is undermining and it makes no sense. Resorting to such thin-skinned censorship just reveals a paucity of decent arguments. I wish you all the best of luck with your appeal on the lawfulness of the Policing College guidelines.
